E. Scott “Papa” Meinhardt, age 72, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. Born on July 26, 1953, in Euclid, Ohio, Scott lived a life defined by devotion to family, curiosity about the world, and a steadfast spirit that those closest to him will forever cherish.
Scott was the son of the late Erwin and Marilyn Meinhardt. He is survived by his siblings, Tim( Betty) Meinhardt and Lynne(Pat) Weber.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Malinda Meinhardt, with whom he shared countless adventures and a lifetime of memories. Together they explored the open road, traveling across the continental United States and proudly visiting all 48 states—once even sneaking across the border into Mexico during one of their memorable road trips. Their travels were filled with laughter, discovery, and Scott’s favorite moments relaxing on beach vacations with a tequila sunrise in hand.
Scott was a proud father to Andrea(Jeff) Trainer, Zachary Meinhardt, Leah(Jesse) Gomez, and Brian Meinhardt. His love only grew with the arrival of his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride: Emma(Vincent) Szabo, Sophie(Samuel) Sutter, Lexi(Jack) Meinhardt, Augustus(Aditi) Trainer, Haley Meinhardt, Cam Sandvick, Bryson Gomez, Opal Trainer, Hazel Trainer, Gavin Gomez, and Camila Gomez, as well as his great-grandchild, George Sutter. He treasured every moment spent watching them grow and creating memories that will live on through them.
A dedicated professional, Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toledo. He went on to build a remarkable 37-year career with Toledo Edison, where his strong work ethic and dependable nature earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Scott was a man of many passions. He was a devoted Star Wars Jedi, a loyal Cleveland Browns and Indians fan through every season, and someone who could happily spend hours discussing history. He also found joy in painting, trivia, and expressing his creativity through art. Those who knew him best remember him as stubborn at times, yet deeply loving, warm-hearted, strong, and someone who truly savored life’s moments.
Scott’s legacy is one of love, adventure, dedication, and family. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, located at 29539 White Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Scott’s life, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable man he was.
In lieu of flowers, we plan to honor Scott by planting trees in his memory. Scott had a fierce love of travel and adventure. He loved to visit all types of mountains, beaches and especially parks. His memory will live on through the planting and reforestation of forests across the country:
