Earline Ann Berndt ("Auntie," "GG"), age 89, of Berkley, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2026. She was a longtime resident of Ferndale, where she lived with her late husband, Lester Berndt, and together raised their two children, Freddy and Christine.
She was born on May 13, 1936, in Detroit to Earl and Marguerite Bailey. Earline graduated from St. James High School in Ferndale and went on to become a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Earline was known for being a devoted member of the Catholic Church, the Royal Oak YMCA, and the Red Hat Club where she made many dear friends. She shared her love with the community through participation in many social and charitable events. Her kindness and bright smile lit up every room, bringing joy and happiness to all who knew her. She enjoyed sewing for many people and was affectionately known as the "Princess of Fabrics."
Earline is survived by her daughter, Christine (John) Orr; grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Harding and Eric (Morgan) Bonk; great-grandchildren, Conor, Chloe, and baby girl Bonk; her sister, Patricia DiVita; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester and son, Freddy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
