Ed (Paw) Jackson Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025. He was in the loving presence of granddaughter Chrissy and great-grandson, Colton. Ed (Pawpaw) was born at the old Home Hospital on December 5, 1944. Anyone familiar with Lafayette will remember Home Hospital.
Ed (Paw) graduated from Lafayette Jeff High School in 1962. He received a scholarship to Michigan State which he attended for a year. He then married the love of his life, Carolyn Bunch on September 19, 1963 in Jacksboro, TN. Paw served in the United States Army from January 1964 until his honorable discharge in January of 1967. He worked many jobs; two memorable ones were Herald Life Insurance Company of Lafayette and the Agriculture Research Building at Purdue. He was also an auctioneer under the name Stonewall Jackson.
Paw lived at the Indiana Veterans Home for the past eight years. He had many wonderful friends and nurses at IVH. The IVH Staff were as close as family to Paw in many ways. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
Paw was born to the late Francis and Florence (Swick) Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leslie (wife: Carol); sister, Carol and brother, Jerry (wife: Meri Lou).
He is survived by his sister, Edith (husband: Jerry); son, Eddie Jr. (his daughter Mandy); daughter Connie (husband: Phil Batta) and their children, Chrissy, Shelly, and Adam Batta. Son, Greg (wife: Crystal) and their daughter, Makayla. Son, Donald and his children, Matthew, Zach, Danielle, and Autumn. Paws granddaughter Chrissy has three children, Colton, Cheyanna, and Ellie.
A visitation will be held for Ed at the Indiana Veterans Home Auditorium on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service 12:00 PM. Chaplain David Hess to officiate. Interment will be held at a later date.
A special bingo will be held in dad's honor for the veterans at IVH at a later date.
