Edna Florence (Clobes) Pidcoe
January 27, 1941 - November 17, 2025
Edna Florence (Clobes) Pidcoe, 84, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed into the arms of her Savior on November 17, 2025. Born on January 27, 1941, in Schwenskville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Florence Mildred (Daugherty) and Louis Franklin Clobes.
A devoted follower of Jesus, Edna's life was a testament to faith, resilience, and service. Raised in foster care through the Mennonite Children's Home in central Pennsylvania from the age of 9 to 17, she grew into a woman of strength and devotion. On June 27, 1959, she married Russel Herbert Pidcoe, with whom she shared a deep partnership in life and ministry until his passing.
Edna was the beloved mother of Mark Louis Pidcoe (Janice), Edna Renee Atkerson (Jerry), Shirley Dawn VanWhy (Ronald), and Rita Ann Varley (Matt), and a loving stepmother to Russel William Pidcoe, Barbara Jane Brookhart (Murphy), and Joan Marie Yerg (Robert). Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
She is survived by her dear sisters Audrey Smith and Helen Mailloux, and was preceded in death by her husband Russel, daughter Shirley, and siblings Charles, Elmer, Anna, Louis Jr., and John.
Edna's talents were many: a gifted seamstress who found joy in knitting and crochet, a graceful piano player, and an excellent cook who delighted in feeding family and friends. Her family has a great love and appreciation of the many cherished dishes they were raised on and continue to carry on with their own families, including strawberry shortcake, homemade applesauce, and Spanish bun. She loved swimming, basking in the sun, solving jigsaw puzzles, and collecting farm tractor pieces from her favorite brand, John Deere. She shared a passion for woodworking with her husband and brother Elmer, and her children and grandchildren are all in possession of pieces for which they hold dear, including custom-made toy chests.
Professionally, Edna served faithfully as a church bookkeeper, supported her husband's work with the Rescue Mission in Baltimore, Maryland, and rose through the ranks from budget clerk to Supervisory Budget Analyst with a New Mexico state agency—a testament to her diligence and intellect.
A memorial service celebrating Edna's life will be held on Monday, December 8, at Coronado Villa Retirement Resort, located at 6900 San Vicente Ave. NE in Albuquerque. The service will take place in the theater from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Conversation Room from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
All who knew and loved Edna are welcome to attend and share in honoring her remarkable life.
