Edna Lou Schaefer, age 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was called to her heavenly home on January 22, 2026.
She was born on October 27, 1938, in Franklin, Tennessee, to Ernest Brown and Mildred (Shaw) Brown.
On June 13, 1959, Edna married the love of her life, Edgar Schaefer. Together they shared 67 years of marriage and built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. They were blessed with two sons, Edgar W. (Becky) Schaefer Jr. and Brian (Donna) Schaefer. Edna was a proud grandmother to Amanda (Tanner) Warner and Jessica (Mason) Schultz, and she adored her four great-grandchildren: Austin, Riggens, Reid, and Graham.
Edna spent her early years in Tennessee before her family moved to Indiana. She graduated from Elmhurst High School and enjoyed line dancing with her friends. After graduation, she worked at International Harvester until the birth of her first son.
A devoted Child of God, wife, and mother, Edna dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She spent time selling Tupperware, sewing, volunteering as a Cub Scout den leader, and faithfully serving her church. After her children began high school, she returned to the workforce at the Allen County Co-op, where she worked for 22 years before retiring.
During retirement, Edna treasured time spent with family and friends at Lake George, enjoying euchre, boat rides, and singing in her church choir. In recent years, her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her brother.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m.
