It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Dennis Hauck Jr., who died peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 82. A lifelong resident of Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley, Ed will be remembered for his deep devotion to family, a tireless work ethic, and a love for playing, coaching and watching sports, particularly his unwavering loyalty to the Eagles and Phillies through both glory and heartbreak.

Ed was born on February 28, 1943, in Philadelphia to Edward Dennis Hauck Sr. and Anne Dolores (Malarkey) Hauck. One of eight children, Ed assumed added responsibilities for the family after his father suddenly passed away when he was 10 years old. After lettering in football at North Catholic High School, Ed became the first in his family to attend college, commuting to La Salle University while working nights and supporting a young family.

Ed began his professional career in the mortgage industry at Clarke Mortgage, where he advanced to Assistant Vice President. He later became Senior Vice President at Valley Federal Savings & Loan in Easton before co-founding EHJM Mortgage, which he ran until his retirement.

While Ed cared deeply about his professional life, he found even more enjoyment in the time he spent with friends and family, particularly in outdoor sports. Ed was an accomplished skier and longtime member of the Ptarmigan Ski Club, serving as its president and participating in trips throughout New England, Utah, and Colorado. And while his team lost far more games than they won, he always fondly recalled his time playing slow-pitch softball with his close friends from the Ancient Oaks neighborhood and throughout the Lehigh Valley in the 1970s and 1980s.

Ed also coached baseball and soccer with the East Penn Youth Association and spent significant time supporting all of his children's athletic activities. In later years, his greatest joy came from spending time with his 10 grandchildren in Florida and the Poconos, traveling with his wife Betsy in Europe, and seeing the Eagles finally win the Super Bowl in the 2017 season. Ed also developed a passion for golf in his fifties, and through hard work and toil became good enough to eventually record a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at Northampton Country Club.

Ed is survived by his wife of 27 years, Betsy; children Lisanne Hauck (Keith Knight), Daniel Hauck (Karen), and Missy Bryan (Jeff); stepdaughters Karen Deichman (Charlie), Stephanie Layton and Dianne Duga; grandchildren Max Hall, Dylan Hall, Liam Hall, Emily Hauck, Thomas Hauck, Paige Bryan, Molly Bryan, Lucy Bryan, Trey Deichman (Breanna) and Carly Deichman; and great-grandchildren Charlie Deichman and Oliver Deichman. He is also survived by his sibling, Sr. Eleanor Hauck, SHJC, as well as former wives Patricia Channell Bryant and Diane Sackett. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Breen, Jean Jones, Martha DiCesare, Gregory Hauck, Anne Krothe and Thomas Hauck; and his nephew, Joseph Hauck.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Steel Club, 700 Linden Avenue, Hellertown, PA 18055.
