Edward Joseph McIntosh

1939 - 2026

Edward Joseph McIntosh, 86, was born on July 29, 1939, in Heard County, GA to Edna Magdaline Powers McIntosh and Robert Edward McIntosh. After graduating from Carrollton High School in 1957, Edward received a full-ride scholarship from the U.S. Navy to Georgia Tech where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He graduated with a degree in Industrial
Management in 1961 and then spent 4 years in the Navy as a Lieutenant. He received an MBA from Georgia State University in 1971.
Edward married Carol Ann Wilson on February 4, 1982. They were long time members of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody where Edward volunteered his time each summer at
Vacation Bible School. He spent his career at various companies, including Dupont, Urethane Applications, BCBS MS, leading those around him until he retired in 1994 from the VAMC as the
Chief of Information Resource Management (IRM). Edward had a special love of learning- learning how to play the cello, learning how to sew quilts and embroidery in his retirement. He enjoyed seeing how things worked and figuring out how to do things. He was an avid leader of
the Boy Scouts, leading troops in both Georgia and Mississippi. He was an Eagle Scout, as were his two sons and grandson Matt. Edward's interests included gardening, woodworking,
traveling, 3-D printing, the Atlanta Braves and flying, at which point he purchased his own small plane. He loved small sports cars and his Fiat-500 Sport in GA Tech gold. What he loved most was spending time with his family and friends.
Edward passed away surrounded by his family on February 17, 2026. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert McIntosh, and grandson Roy Robinson.
