Edward Francis Murphy, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. He lived a long, full life marked by love, laughter, and deep devotion to family and friends.
Edward is survived by his children, Dan Murphy and Mary Kay Kolbeck, along with five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, best friend, and love of his life, Mary Ann (Allen) Murphy, who passed in 2016. Their love story continues, and it brings comfort to know they are together again.
Edward proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, where he played on the Navy basketball team. Following his service, he built a long career with Mountain Bell and other telephone companies. But his true passions were found outside of work — playing tennis, traveling the world with Mary Ann, and enjoying many happy years at their second home in Sun City West, Arizona.
Known for his fabulous sense of humor, Edward could make anyone laugh. He was the life of every gathering and was affectionately known as "the governor of the neighborhood," holding court on the side of the house, visiting with neighbors, offering advice, stories, and good-hearted laughter. He cherished time with his family above all else and would truly have taken the shirt off his back for the people he loved. He was deeply loved in return.
True to his wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, his children — Dan (and his wife Kim) and Mary Kay (and her husband Steve) — held a quiet toast at home in his honor.
Ed will be profoundly missed and forever remembered for his wit, warmth, kindness, and the joy he brought into every room.
