Edward John Pirazzi Jr. passed away peacefully in Roseville, California, on January 7, 2026. He will be remembered as a kind and hardworking man, deeply committed to his family, with a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. He loved a good joke and was always making those around him laugh.

Ed was born in San Francisco, California, on January 17, 1948. He was welcomed by his parents, Edward Sr. and Edith (Bordi) Pirazzi, and older sister Edithann. As a child, Ed spent a lot of his time in the Almaden Valley playing in his family's walnut orchards. It was here that he developed his love of hunting and the outdoors.

Ed graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1966. After graduation, he briefly attended the College of San Mateo before being offered a job with the City of South San Francisco. Due to the fact that he was no longer in school, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served bravely in Vietnam for 13 months.

Upon returning home, Ed resumed his job with the City of South San Francisco. He spent the next 37 years on the street crew as a Lead Public Works Maintenance Worker. He enjoyed his career and had fond memories of this time, especially the friendships he formed with his coworkers.

Ed met Susan (Peterson) in June of 1973 when picking up his sister from work. They were married in July of 1974, and together they raised their two children in South San Francisco. He shared his love for the outdoors with his children through family camping trips. Many special memories were made while camping at Richardson Grove State Park, where Ed would play cribbage games with Sue's Uncle Leon that sometimes lasted through the night. He was a devoted family man, supporting his children with his presence at their school activities and sporting events.

In 2004, Ed and Sue retired to Roseville, California. Ed enjoyed exploring the local restaurants in his new city, and quickly found a few favorite breakfast spots. He loved spending time gambling at casinos throughout Northern California and Reno, especially Thunder Valley Casino, where he was a frequent visitor in the poker room. He also cherished trips to his Uncle Richard's ranch in Stonyford, where he got to hunt, visit with his cousins, and have fun operating farming equipment. Ed and Sue enjoyed a bit of travel during their retirement, including a cruise to Alaska and a 50th anniversary celebration in Benbow. At home, Ed could often be found sitting in his favorite spot on the couch, watching old Westerns and cheering on the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He also liked to spend time cooking, and most recently had been trying out heart-healthy recipes.

Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Pirazzi; his children, Brian (Laura) Pirazzi and Trisha Pirazzi; his grandchildren, Andrew, Alexis, and Julia; and his sister, Edithann Pirazzi, along with many cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Edith Pirazzi.

Visitation will be held at Lambert Funeral Home in Roseville, California, on Wednesday, January 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will take place at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California, on Thursday, January 15, at 10:00 am.

Ed's family is grateful for the many thoughts, prayers, messages, and support received from family and friends. They also extend heartfelt appreciation to the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Kaiser Permanente in Roseville.
