Edward G. Whalen passed away January 22, 2026, at the age of 70. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Dec 27, 1955.
Ed was raised in Somerville, but with a heart as big as his, he spread his love in all the surrounding cities. Having a love for the sun, he spent many of his last years in Titusville, Florida. Recently returning to Massachusetts, spending his last weeks with his loving family.
In his early years, Ed proudly served the Navy in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1974. He was an "OG" member of the Sons of 600 (known as "No Name"), A tireless provider and jack-of-all-trades, skilled in roofing, painting, mechanics and everything in between.
Ed is predeceased by his parents James and Ruby Whalen, The devoted husband of his beloved wife Natalie (Nina) Whalen and the proud father of Jodi Kinney (and her husband, Daniel Jr.) of North Andover MA, Susan Whalen of Quincy MA, Tina Whalen of Cleveland TN, Keri Whalen (and her partner, James Smith) of Beverly MA, his youngest, Julia (and her partner, Jeremy Frost) of Nashua NH, and his one and only son, Edward Jr. of Palm Bay FL.

Ed leaves a legacy of 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Ed was the best at capturing memories with his heart, he had more pictures than you could imagine that he loved looking back on with a smile ear to ear. He loved being surrounded by the sun and bikinis, beach days at Bianchi’s or Kelly’s. He had a legendary sweet tooth for strawberry shortcakes, fried dough, frozen Charleston Chews, and banana splits. He cherished New England winters, the snowmen and snow angels. He enjoyed family camping, and Father’s Day at Laconia Bike Week with his children and loved ones. He was a man of immense strength and unmatched loyalty. Relentless in his love, brave in his services. He was a protector whose greatest talent was fixing heavy hearts.
