Edwin Davis Coleman Jr.

1959 - 2026

Edwin "Ed" Coleman, 66, passed away on February 17th, 2026, following an unexpected illness.

Ed proudly served his country for 14 years in the United States Navy and later for eight years in the Army Reserves before retiring from military service. His dedication to service and quiet pride in his country were a defining part of who he was.

Outside of his military career, Ed found great joy in nature and in helping others. He was a passionate beekeeper who mentored many new beekeepers and generously shared his knowledge with others in the community. Through farmers markets, beekeeping groups, and the many friendships he built along the way, Ed touched the lives of countless people.

Ed also had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed singing and playing guitar. In fact, music is what first brought him and his wife, Lynda, together - the beginning of a love story that would span more than twenty years.

Ed deeply loved his family and especially treasured his role as "Papa" and "Poppy" to his grandchildren. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Gracie, who was rarely far from his side.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin, and his father, Edwin Davis Coleman.

Ed is survived by his wife, Lynda Tenbusch Coleman; his mother, Patricia Coleman; his daughters, Caitlyn and Rachel; his five cherished grandchildren, Daisy, Veda, Flynn, Freya and Baylee; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

Military honors and interment were held at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Ed will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of music and nature, and the many lives he impacted through his friendship, mentorship, and kindness.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." — Psalm 19:1
