Eileen (Bransfield) Cullen, 94, passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of devotion, kindness, and quiet strength.

Born and raised in Malden, Massachusetts, she grew up during a time that shaped her strong sense of family and responsibility. As a young woman, she began her working life at John Hancock in Boston, where she formed lasting friendships and gained the independence and work ethic that would carry her throughout her life.

After marrying, Eileen and her former husband James Joseph Cullen began their life together in Syracuse, New York. Soon after, they returned to Massachusetts and settled in Melrose, where they built their home and raised their four children. Melrose would remain the center of family life for many years, filled with the activity, laughter, and everyday moments that come with raising a busy household.

First and foremost, Eileen was a devoted mother. She poured her energy into caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She had a steady presence, strong faith, and a practical wisdom that her children relied on throughout their lives. Her love for her family was amplified as the years passed and her family grew. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren. She also loved her dogs or really any dogs! She had many grand dogs, always had a treat ready, and loved the comfort they provided.

Later in life, she returned to work at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital public relations department, where she enjoyed being part of the hospital community and reconnecting with the working world while continuing to support her family.

Her greatest joy was her family. She followed their lives with great interest, celebrating their milestones and always offering encouragement, love, and a listening ear. Eileen was the devoted mother of the late Mark Cullen and his wife Kim of York, ME; Timothy Cullen and his wife Barbara of West Newbury, MA; Dan Cullen and his wife Sarah of Ipswich, MA; and Joanne Cerretani and her husband Michael of Great Falls, VA. She was best known as "Grammie" to Nicole, Patrick, Teaghan, Matthew, John and his wife Blair, Aidan, Meaghan, Shaelin, Lauren, Brian, and Evan. She also had one great-grandchild Brooklyn with another on the way in August. She was the youngest child of the late Richard and Catherine (Crowley) Bransfield, sister of the late James Bransfield, Catherine Fournier, Mary Halpin, Richard Bransfield and Edward Bransfield. Eileen is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Eileen spent her last 20 years in Ipswich, Massachusetts, near her sons and close to the ocean that she loved.

Eileen will be remembered for her kindness, her strong Catholic faith, her steady and caring nature, and the deep love she had for her family. Her life was one centered on God and caring for others. Her strong faith and the values she lived by continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were so fortunate to know and love her. Her family will carry her memory with them always.

A funeral mass for Eileen will take place on April 18, 2026 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Hope Church in Ipswich, MA immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at Ipswich Country Club, 148 Turnpike Road, Ipswich, MA 01938. In lieu of flowers, Eileen had requested that donations be made to a cause very near to her heart, the Mass Down Syndrome Congress. A donation link can be found @ www.mdsc.org
