Eileen Joan Feeney, 66, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, with beautiful snow falling over her beloved city and surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on February 5, 1960, in Jamaica, New York, Eileen was the daughter of the late Thomas and Joan Feeney. She was the first of seven children, including Thomas, Theresa (deceased), Richard (deceased), Kathleen (deceased), Laura, and CarolAnn (deceased). Eileen was the cherished granddaughter of the late Adam and Elsie Peters of St. Albans and Nora Feeney of Corona.
Raised in East Meadow, Eileen eventually made her home in the East Village, where she lived for more than 30 years. She had a vibrant presence in her community, forming lasting friendships with neighbors and friends who will deeply miss her.
Eileen was a loving and devoted mother to Adam (Jaime) Feeney and Alex Richardson, and a proud and adoring grandmother to Eliza and Avery. She was a dear aunt to Kayla and a loyal friend and companion to the late George Melek. Her love extended to Nicole and Nickolas Skipper.
Known for her intelligence, sharp wit, and unmistakable savvy, Eileen carved her own path in life. She ran a neighborhood deli for many years and, during the aftermath of the tragic events of September 11th, she generously fed and cared for first responders, embodying the strength and compassion that defined her character.
Eileen loved the energy of New York City — its remarkable food, rich culture, and constant movement. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved cat, Peony, and her “first grandchild,” Brody. Over the years, she lovingly cared for many animals, including Kramer, Bubbah, and Daphne.
A proud and outspoken Democrat, Eileen stood firmly for what she believed was right and encouraged her family and friends to do the same. Her courage, warmth, and fierce love for those around her will leave a lasting legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) at www.aspca.org.
Eileen will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
