Eileen Glauboch Kelly (nee Donnellan) died peacefully December 13, 2025 at age 90 in Staten Island, New York. She was born in 1935 and raised in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. She is predeceased by her parents, Margaret Donnellan (Sweeney), and Patrick Donnellan. She is also predeceased by her sister Margaret (Pluth), her brother Morton and her sister Kathleen (Garber). She leaves behind her brother Gerard of Lexington, Massachusetts, and her sister Patricia Kosten of Belvidere, New Jersey.

She attended Fontbonne Hall Academy, a Catholic school in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Subsequent to her graduation, she entered the Sisters of the Poor of Saint Francis. She took vows in that order and eventually completed her BS in Nursing and received her RN. She worked for several years at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Newark, New Jersey and other hospitals run by that order.

After several years, she left the religious order and dedicated her entire career to nursing. She earned an MS at New York University as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and subsequently worked for many years in various hospitals. In her later years she was a psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York.
Eileen had a fulfilling, varied career as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the New York area. She trained as a psychotherapist and pursued that in later years.

She wed Robert Glauboch, MD and lived in the West Greenwich Village area of Manhattan for many years. She and Bob spent many wonderful summers at their house in upstate New York. Later, after Bob’s death, she married John Kelly.

Eileen is survived by Michael and Julia Glauboch, including her step-grandson Leo. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Meg Pluth, Theresa Pluth Yeo, Frances Pluth Mueller, Maureen Donnellan-Jessnik (Pete) Alessandra Garber, Kevin Donnellan(Stephanie), Daniel Garber (Kerry); her bother-in-law, George Garber of New York; Hillary Donnellan Repucci (Corey), of Massachusetts and Max Donnellan (Chelsey), of New Hampshire.

Eileen had a wide variety of interests for many years. She participated in a writing program at Quest Lifelong Learning. For example, she wrote an article which appeared in the Q Review in 2016 about her husband Bob. She looked forward to her weekly bridge club; she had several friends with whom she would write. This was a tremendous satisfaction to her in maintaining those relationships and sharing mutual interests.

Besides her career, she delighted in her relationships with her brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and 16 grand-nieces and nephews. She was very engaged with many of them and spent time deepening her relationships with all of them.

At her 90th birthday celebration this past April, Eileen expressed her great joy in having such a loving family.

She is truly missed by many loving circles of family and friends in the New York area and elsewhere.

Services were private. She is interred with Bob and John at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York. A memorial will be held in the New York area in the spring.
