Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at her home, March 1, 2026.
Eileen was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Portland to Daniel A. and Elizabeth G. (Weber) O'Meara. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1947. In 1949, while living with her Aunt Catherine in Portland and attending school, fate intervened: Kenneth Hall walked through the door with a couple of his buddies, and Aunt Catherine said, "He's the one." She was right.
Eileen earned her Nursing degree from the University of Portland in 1951 and began her career as a registered nurse at Tillamook General Hospital. This marked the beginning of her lifelong mission of caring for others - both professionally and through countless acts of service. She and Ken were married on July 19, 1952, and shared 54 years of love and partnership until Ken's passing in 2007.
In 1953, Eileen joined St. Vincent Hospital, where she worked for more than 30 years. During this time, she also devoted herself to serving the less fortunate through Northwest Neighborhood Nurses in Portland. After retiring, she and Ken moved to the Oregon Coast in 1984, embracing a life filled with fishing, clamming, camping, and community. Eileen volunteered in Seaside with the Ladies of the Elks, the nursing ministry at Our Lady of Victory Church, and St. Vincent de Paul.
In 2011, Eileen returned to the Hillsboro/Beaverton area to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, Bingo, and cheering on her Portland Trail Blazers. Her love of knitting and crocheting produced countless afghans for family and thousands of beanies for the unhoused in Portland, delivered through St. Vincent de Paul. Though her hats were cherished, her greatest contribution was her famous Corn Casserole, lovingly made for "her guys" at the Bud Clark Commons. Even when the trip to Portland became difficult, she refused to disappoint. She continued baking and delivering dishes to the kitchen at St. Pius X for distribution. Her generosity was boundless.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 2007. She is survived by her children, Steven (Susan) Hall of Portland; Catherine (John) Keene of Port Orchard, WA; and Julie (Rick) Thoen of Beaverton. Her son Mark (Judi) Hall of Tillamook joined her in heaven on March 2, 2026. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 12:30 pm, followed by Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1280 NW Saltzman Rd, Portland, OR 97229. Reception to follow at St. Pius Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, Eileen requested donations to: St. Vincent de Paul, St. Pius X Conference, 1280 NW Saltzman Rd, Portland, OR 97229. Please note "In Memory of Eileen Hall" on the check.
