Elaine M. (Levesque) Becotte, 81, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, at the Lawrence General Hospital after a brief illness. In the hours before her passing, she was comforted and surrounded by the love of her beloved daughter Maureen. Alongside her twin brother Larry, Elaine was born in Lawrence to the late Eustache and Nellie (Janavicus) Levesque on December 5, 1944. She was raised and educated in Lawrence and Methuen. Upon graduation from Tenney High School, Elaine furthered her education through the Radiologic Technology program at the Lawrence General Hospital. She had an extensive career as an X-ray tech and medical office manager. Elaine proudly served her patients throughout the Merrimack Valley, ultimately retiring from the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. One of her early patients, Thomas "Tom" Becotte, became her future husband. He had suffered an injury on the job that required an X-ray. Taken by Elaine's beauty, skill, and warmth, Tom returned to the hospital again and again for numerous X-rays long after his injury healed. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage and three beautiful daughters.
Elaine was widely known for her witty sense of humor, infectious laugh, sparkly (and mischievous!) blue eyes, kind heart, genuine hugs, and as "the secret ingredient" in her fabulous culinary concoctions. She was a true friend and caregiver to the very end. If you were lucky enough to be loved and cared for by Elaine, you were the luckiest person in the world. Where others saw flaws, she saw your potential. Her love knew no limits, so she accepted you as you were while rooting you on to be the best version of yourself. To her immense credit, she also continuously evolved herself, strongly finishing her work here on earth.
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
Elaine was predeceased by her cherished daughter Mary Elaine, brother Jerry, brother-in-law George, sisters-in-law Sue and Claire, nieces Jennifer and Debby, and her partner in crime and lifelong best friend Pamela Halloran. Left to mourn her loss and keep her memory alive are her husband Tom, daughters Joanne (Jacob) and Maureen (Phil and Otis), brothers Larry (Roswitha) and Thomas (Peggy), sister Janice, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many loving friends.
So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow
Per Elaine's request, there will be no services. A celebration of life is planned for the spring.
