Elaine (Leisenheimer) Mihalko, 91, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Born June 21, 1934 in Williston, Ohio, she was the daughter of Henry and Minna Leisenheimer. Elaine graduated from Genoa High School in 1952. In 1955, she married Donald Mihalko. Together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Elaine worked for many years at Genoa Banking Co., where she was admired for her dedication and respected by colleagues and customers alike. Outside of work, Elaine's hands were rarely still. She was a talented seamstress who created clothing for her family and intricate doll outfits. After retirement, she poured her creativity into quilting, gifting countless baby quilts and full-size quilts that will be cherished for years to come. Later on, Elaine was blessed to find companionship again with Donald Mercer. Their daily walks at Pearson Park and the love they shared brought her great joy until his passing in 2020. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Betty, Marilyn, and Wendall; her husband Donald Mihalko; her companion Donald Mercer; and her great-grandson Harrison. She is survived by her children Jeffrey (Marsha) Mihalko and Victoria (Max) Akins; grandchildren Nicole, Brittany, Andrea, and Adam; great-grandchildren Madison, Abby, and Ayla; and great-great-grandson Colt. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Browning Masonic Community Pathways (Waterville) for the outstanding care and compassion Elaine received over the past 21 months. Elaine was member of St. John's UCC and a former member of Memorial UCC, where she was known for her generosity in providing baked goods for church events. Honoring her wishes, she chose to donate her body to the University of Toledo Medical Center to help train future physicians and support scientific discovery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's UCC, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, followed by a memorial service at noon. (casual attire).
