Elaine M. Morrison

1941 - 2026

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Elaine M. Morrison, 84, of Marlborough, Connecticut, who died peacefully on March 21, 2026, with her family by her side. Elaine was a woman of extraordinary strength, grace, and compassion whose presence touched all who knew her.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Walter Young of New Waterford, Nova Scotia; her devoted husband, Francis “Moe” Morrison; her daughter, Debby Morrison of Billerica, Massachusetts; and her sisters, Patricia Drohan of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Colleen Fletcher of Barrington, New Hampshire, and Florence and Doreen Young, of New Waterford, Nova Scotia.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Colleen Brown, and son-in-law, Patrick Brown, of Marlborough, Connecticut; her adored grandchildren, Francis and Lilly Brown, who were the lights of her life; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Elaine was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, where she was raised by her mother alongside her sisters after the tragic loss of her father in a coal mining accident. Despite early hardship, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the love of family—a resilience she carried with her always.

She later built a warm and welcoming home in Billerica, Massachusetts, with the love of her life, Moe. Her door was always open, and her kitchen became a gathering place where family, neighbors, and friends shared tea, stories, and laughter. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her “girls,” who brought her immeasurable happiness. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to include her beloved nieces Ann and Karen and nephew Bob, with whom they shared a duplex and a close, enduring bond.

After the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Debby, Elaine and Moe moved to Connecticut, where they helped to lovingly raise their grandchildren. Elaine’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and her grandchildren remained her greatest pride and joy. Known affectionately as “Aunty Elaine,” she held a special place in the hearts of her many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Elaine lived with a deep love for others and an enduring appreciation for life. She found happiness in gardening, walking, and offering a helping hand wherever it was needed. She had a remarkable gift for connection—meeting strangers who quickly became friends—and always made others feel valued and cared for. Her kindness, warmth, and compassion will be remembered by all.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Hartford Healthcare Hospice team and the caregivers at TheKey Home Care for the comfort and support they provided. They also thank the Saint John Fisher Homebound Communion Ministry for helping Elaine remain connected to her faith when she could no longer attend Mass.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint John Fisher Church in Marlborough on April 11 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John Fisher Church of Marlborough at https://osvhub.com/stjfchurch/giving/funds/one-time-gift.

Elaine’s legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
