Elaine Margaret Scargill-Hamilton, a native of Santa Cruz, California, died peacefully in her sleep on February 5, 2026, at her home in Coos Bay, Oregon, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
Elaine was born on March 3, 1963, to David and Nadine Scargill of Santa Cruz, California. She attended Holy Cross Elementary, Mission Hill Junior High, and Santa Cruz High School, and later trained at On-Shore Computer College.
After graduating, Elaine worked at several local businesses including Santa Cruz County Bank, Bucci Sun Glasses, Harmony Foods, Physicians Medical Group of Santa Cruz County, and as an office manager for Dr. Arnold Leff.
Her most important job, however, was being a devoted mother. Elaine was always there for her children and the rest of her family. She was consistently willing to lend a hand to her friends. She touched many lives; her generosity was unmatched, and the world was a better place because of her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, David Scargill and Nadine Fambrini-Scargill, and her daughter, Christina "Seagull" Delgado. She is survived by her husband, Chris Hamilton; her son, Marco Delgado, and daughter-in-law, Bobbi Delgado; and her beloved grandsons, Enzo and Kado. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Scargill (Tish Scargill); her brother, Jeffrey Scargill (Cheryl Scargill); and her sister, Catherine Scargill-Bruce (Jacob Bruce).
Elaine also had many close and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will always remember her fondly.
Per her wishes, no services will be held. Elaine's kindness and strength remain a constant source of inspiration. Donations may be made in her name to Pacific Home Health and Hospice of Coos Bay.
