Eleanor Eugenia "Jeater" Forrest, widow of William Thomas "Tommy" Forrest of Greenville, SC, entered into her heavenly rest surrounded by her family and loved ones on January 21, 2026.

She was born May 10, 1935, in Greenville County to the late James "Jim" and Ethel Yearwood Smith. Jeater was a faithful member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worshipping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a graduate of Paris High School and later Draughon's Business College.

Jeater served as a substitute teacher for Greenville County Schools for over 30 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. In her later years, Jeater enjoyed living in the beautiful, quaint town of Mt. Gilead, NC, where she had wonderful friends and took great pleasure in her many hobbies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; her eldest son, Terry Alan Forrest; and her brother, James Austin "Audie" Smith.

She is survived by her son, William Tod Forrest (Emily); her niece, Jennifer Smith ; her nephew, Shane Smith (Julie); her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly—Charles, Alyssa, Zane, and Lana; and her precious great-granddaughter, Haydyn, who brought her much joy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her faithful caregivers Miss Willis, Brooke and Judy and to all the wonderful people at The Gilead Assisted Living Facility and Gentiva Hospice Care.

A graveside memorial service will be held on a later date. All are welcome to attend. Details will be shared soon.
