Elizabeth Arntz

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 101, Elizabeth Arntz passed away peacefully in her home in Petaluma CA. The youngest of five children, Elizabeth was born to Monroe Hogan and Edith Wade Underwood on August 16, 1924, in Rives Tennessee.

After a career as a surgical nurse in San Francisco, Elizabeth married the love of her life, Kenneth Theodore Arntz, in May of 1949. Kenneth preceded her in death in May 1990.

Elizabeth is survived by five loving children; Ted (Judy) Arntz, Bob (Debra Pendergast) Arntz, Sue (Jack) Holman, Paul (Anna) Arntz, and Elizabeth (Mark) Hale. She was greatly blessed to have many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth considered the members of the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma to be her extended family. She served in the life of her church as a Deacon and an Elder, as well as singing in the church choir Her love of service to her community was expressed by delivering groceries to families in need for FISH, cooking and serving meals at the Petaluma Kitchen, knitting hats and scarves for those in need both here in Petaluma and in Africa, and by providing rides to Doctor's appointments or to the grocery store for anyone who needed help As an avid Giants Baseball fan, Elizabeth knew the player's STATS and their wives' names. Elizabeth also had a passion for animals. She never met a cat or dog that she didn't love.

Elizabeth was loved by many and will be missed by all. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 2pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma.
