Elizabeth “Bettie” Anne Dwight, 98, of Atlantic Highlands, NJ, passed away at home Feb. 14, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Bettie was born Sep. 3, 1927 and was a graduate of Scotch Plains High School. After marrying in 1948, she helped her husband start a successful plumbing and heating company, handling all billing and accounting functions. At 47, she began a second career in the public sector. She was a proud employee of the Borough of Atlantic Highlands, working in diverse roles including payroll clerk, court clerk, and water collector before retiring after 20 years.
Bettie is remembered as a dedicated member of her community, having served as treasurer for the Atlantic Highlands Senior Citizens Club into her 90s. She enjoyed her retirement by taking water aerobics classes and traveling with friends, including to places like Hong Kong and Hawaii.
She is predeceased by her husband of more than 56 years, Harrison “Harry”, and daughter, Cheryl. She is survived by five children: Patricia, Maureen “Reenie”, JoAnne (and her husband Keith), William (and his wife Suzanne), and Keith (and his wife Marisol); eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
