Elizabeth Casieri Tuohy, age 89, of Chicago, IL, passed away on January 27, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Elizabeth was born in Brooklyn, NY to Constance and Anthony Casieri. She is survived by her beloved family: Vincent (Amy) Casieri and their children, Alexander and Anabel; Chris (Laurie) Casieri and their children, Nicholas, Jonathan, and Caroline; and Paul (Diana) Casieri and their children, Michael and Stella. At the young age of 70 years old, she married the love of her life, the late John O'Connor Tuohy and lovingly embraced the family she cherished as her own. She was a treasured step-mother to John (Gail) Tuohy and Mary (Tom) Kons, and a proud grandmother to Kelly (Justin) Young, Anna, Kati (Hannah), Michaela Kons, and Connor, Ryan, and Danny Tuohy
Elizabeth lived her life as a loving daughter, dedicated educator, and pioneer of her time, with a deep love for the arts. She was a steadfast advocate for women, whose independent spirit and actions spoke louder than words. For over 20 years, she served as a public school teacher, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Her work reflected a deep belief in the power of education to change lives. Our Principessa will be dearly missed.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m.
1420 W Granville Ave, Chicago, IL 60660
