Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Guay) Wood, 88, of Essex Junction, Vermont, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Born on July 14, 1937, in St. Albans, Vermont, Betty lived a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to her family and community.

Betty was the beloved wife of Frederick Wood, with whom she shared an extraordinary 69 years of marriage. Together they built a family rooted in love and faith. She is survived by her children: Brian Wood and his wife Gloria of Fairfield, VT; Alan Wood and his wife Sarah of Milton, VT; Lisa Pidgeon and her husband Jeffrey of Essex, VT; Karen Myers and her husband Eric of Milton, VT; and Kathleen Carter and her husband Stephen of Milton, VT. Betty was also a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren.

A talented musician at heart, Betty found joy in playing the accordion, piano and singing whenever the opportunity presented itself. Her love of music was evident during her many years of square dancing with her husband; playing music during mass at St. Lawrence Church; as well as line dancing in her later years. Her music brought happiness to those around her and reflected her vibrant spirit. She also enjoyed playing bingo, a pastime that allowed her to connect with family and friends while sharing laughter when calling out "BINGO" most every time she played.

Betty's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. She placed her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above all else, guiding her actions with kindness and compassion. Her deep devotion extended to her family and friends, who were always close to her heart.

May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her. A Funeral Mass will be held on April 17, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 30 Lincoln Street in Essex Junction. Lunch to follow the mass at the Holy Family Community Center Hall next to the church, giving everyone the opportunity to share fond memories of Betty.
