1960 - 2026

Ellen Renee (Yaffie) Marble passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on March 19, 2026.

Ellen will be deeply missed by her parents, Ann Grobosky (Mark) and Irwin Yaffie (Phyllis); her sisters, Karen Yaffie, Susan LaFleur, Sheryl Yaffie and her stepbrother Michael Krempel. She is also survived by her husband, William Marble; her two sons, Matthew Yaffie and Brandon Shepperd; her stepchildren Ashley Price and Derek Marble, as well as her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched.

Ellen grew up in upstate New York, graduating from high school in Herkimer before pursuing interests in pharmacology at the Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany NY and anthropology at the University of Buffalo, NY. Ellen balanced family life and raising two children with a fulltime career. She was a 911 operator and then became a Classification Counselor with the Baltimore County Bureau of Corrections until her retirement. Ellen remained active in her home with personal hobbies, interests, family and spending time with her beloved pets.

Ellen will be remembered for her tremendous caring heart, generous acts of kindness, and a wonderful sense of humor. She was always ready to help and often volunteered her time at events that provided support for others dealing with challenges in life. She had a gift for making people feel valued and loved, whether through a thoughtful conversation, a shared laugh, or a simple act of compassion. She found joy in spending time with her family, tending to her garden, enjoying nature, mastering puzzles, capturing beauty through photography, and collecting antiques and treasures that reflected her unique spirit. Ellen was also an avid animal lover and rescued many dogs and cats over the years in order to provide them with a loving home.

Throughout her life, Ellen faced many medical challenges, including 20 years with Multiple Sclerosis, yet she met each day with remarkable courage, strength, and perseverance. Her resilience was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Ellen’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the love and light she brought into their lives.

A celebration of Ellen’s life will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a preferred animal rescue of your choice, in her honor.
