Elvia "Coco" Cortez Davis was born in Olmito, Texas and made her home in Ceres, where she raised her family. She worked in manufacturing for Procter and Gamble for over 20 years before she retired.
Elvia is the daughter of Luis Cortez and Epifania Lopez Cortez. She had five siblings: Tina Drabin (Bill), Elia Puente (Mario), Elvira Perez (Silvestre), Elena Branson, Juan Cortez (Martha), and half-sibling, Justino Cortez.
Elvia was married to Bob Davis for 30 years and was a devoted mother to Lilia Saenz, Sabrina Sims, and stepson Jeremy Davis. She cherished her three grandchildren — Jordan, Izaak, and Izaiah — never missing a chance to drive them to school, cheer them on at their games, or cook one of their favorite meals. She loved being a grandma!
Family was everything to Elvia. She lived life as life should be lived — not by looking back but always ahead, and her greatest joy was caring for her family. Elvia loved supporting Bob and would travel with him all over the country during his different work assignments (as long as there was not any snow!).
She loved long road trips. The destination did not matter, what mattered was time together. No one could ever sleep in the car when she was driving. Sometimes it meant relearning all the state capitals and seeing who could answer first and correctly. She had many adventures with her siblings and was always the life of the party. She was funny, loved to clown around and make them all laugh. Elvia loved to gamble, and casino trips with her sisters were some of her favorite times. The free casino hotel nights oftentimes guided them on long road trips!
Elvia enjoyed cheering on her Dallas Cowboys and Golden State Warriors! Everyone who watched a game with her knew how passionate she was about her teams!
She was loved by many, and we will miss her with all our hearts.
The family is planning a celebration of life this spring. In lieu of flowers, please think of Elvia when you are watching the Dallas Cowboys and cheer for "America's Team"!
