Emmett Grigley Bernard Anderson, Jr., 67, passed away on December 2, 2025, in Washington, DC. A devoted minister, counselor, and teacher, Bernard dedicated his life to serving others.

Born on August 13, 1958, in Miami, Florida, Bernard was the son of the late Emmett Anderson, Sr. and Louise Hunter Anderson of Boston, GA.

Bernard was ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland in 2015, a milestone that reflected his enduring commitment to faith and service. He offered guidance and solace to many as a counselor and spiritual leader. His ministry was not only a profession but a profound expression of his care for humanity.

Throughout his life, Bernard embraced roles that allowed him to lead and teach with wisdom. Whether directing human services programs, leading teams, or in personal conversation, he brought clarity and humor to every interaction. His legacy is one of caring deeply for people.

Bernard is survived by his spouse, Lawrence Campbell of Washington, DC; his daughter, Candace K. Webb of Rockville, MD; and numerous relatives, friends, and colleagues, including his Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. brotherhood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, whose values helped shape the man he became.
