Eric William Helfrich was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 1973 and passed away in Long Beach, Ca, January 2026. Eric grew up in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from John Jay High School in 1992.
Eric then joined the Navy in 1993, and he retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief in 2016 while on the USS Winston Churchill.
In the Navy Eric met his wife Nancy, the love of his life. She brought her two children Eddie and Crystal into Eric's life. He welcomed them with open arms and an open heart. He raised Crystal and Eddie as his own. A few years later Eric and Nancy decided to have another child and had June Helfrich. Eric was absolutely over the moon for June. He was a phenomenal husband, father, son, grandfather and friend to many people.
Many people thought of Eric as a mentor and looked to him for guidance. He loved teaching his children, nephew and grandchildren how to hunt, fish, boat, cook and survive on their own. At a young age Eric learned to fish and hunt from his step father John Stanfield
Eric was blessed with a wonderful charismatic and fun personality that made an impression on everyone that met him. Eric was always down for a good BBQ with friends and family. He loved to explore new places to hangout and take friends and family who visited.
Eric was smart, funny and a phenomenal man. Memories of Eric will always be cherished.
Eric is survived by his wife Nancy Helfrich, children: June
Helfrich, Crystal Montez and Eddie Montez. Sisters: Mary Kay Helfrich, Trevi Leon, and Jodi Coleman. Grand children: Nadia, Addison, Mason and Adalyn. Nieces and Nephew Amanda, Joseph and Erika, and Step father John Stanfield.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother June Stanfield and father William Helfrich.
