Eric Smith Lohmann died on October 8, 2025, in Hudson, Florida, after a brief illness. He was born on May 18, 1943, to Walter and Elizabeth (née Nichols) Beemer in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and later adopted by his estranged stepfather, George Lohmann. His fondest childhood memories were of time spent with his mother's two sisters: the artist Dorothy Hoffman, who fostered his creative and mechanical skills, and his aunt Mildred Fretz, who encouraged him to attend the Church Farm School in Paoli, Pennsylvania. Eric graduated CFS in 1961 as recipient of the Field Prize and served in the US Navy from 1962-67, attaining the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. Eric lived for over a decade in the Buffalo, New York, area, before settling in Florida's Suncoast and working for many years as a construction foreman and grader operator for companies to include C.J McGeehan and R.E. Beckner. He retained a lifelong affection for refurbishing British sports cars, tinkering with engines, and remodeling his home, and was well-known for his love of horses and dogs, Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton, and the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Eric is survived by his three brothers, George, Leslie, and Jerome, and his two children, Erica and Eric. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be considered for The Headstrong Project, a veterans' mental health organization.
