Eric Reuter, born on May 21, 1958, in Troy, New York, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Whiting, New Jersey. He was 66 years old.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and went on to build a successful career spanning over two decades at Merck. His professional life reflected his dedication and consistency, qualities that were also evident in his personal passions and relationships.
A man deeply connected to the natural world, Eric found joy and inspiration in the outdoors. His love of nature was not only a source of peace but also a creative outlet. An accomplished nature photographer, Eric had an extraordinary talent for capturing the delicate beauty of birds, butterflies, moths, flowers, and countless other wonders through his camera lens. His photographs served as both art and testament to his reverence for the environment.
Beyond his artistic pursuits, Eric enjoyed rock collecting—a hobby that mirrored his appreciation for the quiet intricacies of the world around him. Whether hiking through wooded trails or examining stones along a riverbank, he found meaning in the details others might overlook.
Eric was a loving man whose warmth touched those around him. He is survived by his two children, Billie Reuter and Jenni Reuter; his life partner, Lisa Deubel; and his two older brothers, Tom Nixon and Jim Nixon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Voigt Reuter, and father, William Reuter.
Eric’s presence will be missed greatly by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and inspiration to those who continue to see the world through a lens of wonder.
