Erick Virgil Hall
1971 - 2026
Boise, Idaho
Erick, 54, found his peace on February 9, 2026. While much of Erick's journey through life involved weathering difficult storms and challenging circumstances, those who knew him will remember a man who possessed a rare ability to turn scarcity into beauty.
Erick was a true artist of the everyday. With a visionary mind and steady hands, he created intricate carousels from folded paper and dental floss, lifelike animal sculptures colored with toothpaste, and delicate butterfly patches embroidered using plastic cups as hoops. He was profoundly generous with his craft. Each year, he would spend his time carefully saving scraps of colored paper just to ensure his friends and family received handmade Christmas cards and ingenious ornaments.
Beyond his art, Erick was a walking encyclopedia. Whether he was explaining the mechanics of an irrigation system built from recycled materials or detailing the nuances of a favorite documentary, his recall was legendary. He was a natural teacher who took great pride in sharing his skills, even authoring a book on drawing to guide those in his absence.
Erick was a man of firm convictions and had a fiercely independent spirit. He believed that every song, no matter what genre, should tell a story, and he always had the perfect music recommendation for anyone in need of a new classic. He was also a man of courage. In adverse situations he would hold his head up high and endure.
Though he faced battles and a complex path, Erick's resolve to stand up for what he thought was right and fair grew with age. He spent his final years proving that his voice was one that would not be silenced. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, a wealth of shared knowledge, and a reminder that beauty can be found in the most unlikely of places.
Erick has finally traded the heavy weather of this world for the "better days" he always envisioned. As a man who found his truth in the lyrics of the music he loved, we remember him with the words of Ozzy Osbourne:
"I'm just a dreamer, who dreams of better days."
