Erin McLaughlin Rickard

1995 - 2025

Erin Rickard (née McLaughlin) - born February 26, 1995, died tragically June 12, 2025, in Arran, Saskatchewan, at the age of 30. She is survived by her parents, Keith and Beth McLaughlin; her brother, Jake; her husband, Colin Rickard; and her 7-month-old daughter, Thorin Freeborn Rickard.
Erin was fiercely independent: intelligent, articulate, determined, strong, beautiful, and creative. From an early age, she forged her own path, a natural leader who inspired those around her. She had a deep love for nature, finding joy in cutting trails on her farm with her loyal and beloved guardian dog. She excelled at everything she set her mind to - academics, athletics, or farming.
Erin graduated from Queen's University with a B.A. in Psychology. Her interests were wide-ranging and included skiing, horseback riding, bodybuilding, rugby, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. She embraced risk and adventure through skydiving, rock climbing, and scuba diving. Erin fulfilled her dream of building a homestead in rural Saskatchewan, raising chickens and cows, hunting, and tending her garden.
Despite her many gifts and accomplishments, Erin faced a difficult battle with mental illness, one that ultimately became too heavy to bear. Her passing has forever changed our universe, leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
