Erwin Harold Moses, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on December 29, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born January 7, 1952, on the island of Tobago, Erwin’s early years were shaped by the trappings of Caribbean life. There, he developed as a church acolyte and boy scout, cultivated a passion for the arts and literature, worked as a teacher, nurtured a lifelong passion for gardening, and excelled as a cyclist alongside future Olympians. Erwin migrated to Canada in 1975, where he married and started a family while embracing the opportunities and experiences of life abroad.
Erwin is survived by his daughter and only child, Lisa Virginia Moses; his sisters Adina Thomas, Alison Roberts, Helen Ciprian, Brenda Adams-Onyegbuchulam, and Marilyn Adams. He was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Adams, and his sister, Sherrell Alice James.
A Celebration of Life for Erwin will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, located at 611 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, where Erwin found much-needed support and community throughout his illness.
Though Erwin spent many years in Canada, his heart always belonged to Tobago, and it was his wish to return home as his final resting place. His burial will therefore take place in Tobago at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, where Erwin served as a sexton, on a date to be determined.
For those wishing to attend Erwin’s Celebration of Life remotely, a Zoom service has been arranged:
