On November 15, 2025, Erwin F. Schwarz passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, leaving behind a life full of hard work, joy, and unforgettable stories. He immigrated to the United States in 1967 from Austria with his wife, Theresa (née Welker) Schwarz. Together, they built a new life in St. Louis, Missouri, where Erwin started his successful exotic car repair and sales business in 1977 under his own name in Brentwood, Missouri which is still in business today.
Erwin became known across the country as "the doctor of" Rolls-Royce because of his incredible skill and deep knowledge of these cars. He never advertised—his entire business grew through word of mouth from loyal customers who trusted him completely. People loved not only his talent but also his big personality, quick wit, and the way he always lived life on his own terms.
Erwin was proud of his German heritage and was a longtime member of the St. Louis German Cultural Society, where he enjoyed many events and traditions that reminded him of home.
At heart, Erwin loved building, fixing, and creating. Whether he was repairing a rare engine or building something for the house, he put care and craftsmanship into everything he did. He also loved spending time on his family's 50-acre property, caring for the horses, cats, and dogs, and hosting gatherings with Theresa that brought everyone together.
Erwin especially loved spending time with his grandchildren on the beaches of Florida, where they made wonderful memories—often ending birthday celebrations with the family's famous "pie in the face" tradition.
Erwin is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; his four children—Christine, Gabrielle, Eric, and Fred; his sons-in-law and daughter-in-law—Nick (married to Christine), Brad (married to Gabrielle), and Lauren (married to Fred); and his six grandchildren—Hunter, Remy, Tyler, Aston, Benji, and Maddie. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Mike, nieces—Lauren, Alexis, Andrea, and Beatrix—and his nephew, Lothar. He taught his family the value of hard work, confidence, laughter, and doing things your own way.
In lieu of a service, the family will honor his wishes and gather privately to spread his ashes in a place he loved.
Erwin lived a full and meaningful life. He will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, his remarkable talent, and the love he gave to his family. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of St. Louis.
