Esther Bean

With deep sorrow, the Bean family announces the passing of Esther Deanna Bean, who died on March 11 in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Born and raised in Worcester, MA, Esther was married to Stephen Bean for 65 years. She taught middle-school French and Spanish for twenty years before making a mid-career pivot to study social work and psychotherapy at Smith College. Esther moved her family to Northampton where she started a successful counseling practice. Esther became an active member of Congregation B'nai Israel where she energetically contributed to many aspects of synagogue life. She was a wonderful cook and took special pleasure in welcoming family and friends for meals and celebrations.
Esther loved a good puzzle and was a competitive bridge player - she also never met a dog she didn't love. A testimony to her commitment to community, Esther was elected for 7 consecutive terms to serve on the HOA board at Ponte Vecchio West. Esther was a steadfast and committed community member wherever she lived.
Esther is survived by husband, Stephen Bean; by her children, Sharon Bean and Michael Bean; by her cherished grandchildren, Maddi, Julia, Grace, and Akivha; and her foster—daughter Daisy Pabon. Esther is also lovingly remembered by her adored nieces, Susan Goldstein and Rachal Goldstein. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Anne Coulter and Maxwell Coulter; her sister, Maureen Goldstein; and her brother-in-law, Edward A. Goldstein.
Her memory will remain a source of strength, inspiration, and love to all who knew her.
