"A beautiful soul is never forgotten, just remembered with great love."

Eugenia O'Keefe Murphy passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the age of 81 in Bellevue, Washington. Born to parents Melville and Eugenia "Gena Ree" O'Keefe in Watsonville, California, she grew up in the Bay Area developing the warmth and curiosity for which she was known and loved.

Married to Robert "Bob" Murphy on October 15, 1966, Eugenia and Bob shared 55 wonderful years together. She is survived by her children Joseph (Colleen) and Tiffany (Michael) and grandchildren Caitlin, Tara, Regan, Victor, Sullivan, her sister Mary, sister-in-law Tina, and nephew Kevin. Her vivacious and loving nature created a host of extended family members and friends who all will carry her in their hearts.

Eugenia dedicated her life to her beautiful large family and was a constant loving presence in all aspects of their lives. She likely holds an unofficial world record for the number of sports games, cheer competitions, award ceremonies, concerts, graduations, and performances attended. Her family will carry her encouragement with them throughout their lives.

Her lifelong commitment to education began at Sacred Heart in Atherton, California, and only strengthened with time. Eugenia proudly contributed to Eastside Catholic High School grow into the premier institution it is today with her countless hours of volunteering and service.

Eugenia was a light to everyone she met. Her unique ability to see the good in everyone made all who met her feel special and appreciated. The warmth radiating from her, her smile & bright eyes, and her knack for knowing just what to say were a comfort to all who encountered her. Eugenia's gifts of brownies, Kix candy, butterscotch bars, and her homemade Chex mix always brought a smile to everyone.

From living in Saudi Arabia, climbing the pyramids in Egypt, driving the Autobahn in Germany, and exploring the Hittite ruins in Turkey, Eugenia's adventurous and curious nature nourished a life filled with experiencing new places and meeting new people. Her light shown through in every language and culture, proven in the smiles that would break out whenever someone was fortunate enough to meet her. Eugenia and Bob took great joy, no matter the distance, to spend time with their children and grandchildren. They traveled the country and the world to be there in celebration for each special occasion.

Her beautiful garden was a testament to Eugenia's love of nature. She was at home and at peace in the splendor of the Northwest. Eugenia was never happier than when she was out on the water with her beloved Bob aboard their boat, Mariah, at their favorite destination, Roche Harbor. You would often find them on the docks hosting impromptu crab boils with Neil Diamond playing in the background inviting anyone who strolled by into their peaceful oasis, and they loved their "dinghy dates" watching Colors or exploring.

Eugenia expressed her strong faith in both word and deed as an active member in her church, Holy Family, in Kirkland, Washington where you would find her every Sunday.

The family welcomes you to join the celebration Funeral Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland, Washington, at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with a reception to follow.
