Eva Barnett Bickel passed away on February 2, 2026, in Fort Myers, FL, at the age of 88. Born on September 21, 1937, in Louisville, KY, she grew up attending Broadway Baptist Church with her grandparents. She was a 1955 graduate of Eastern High School and attended William Woods College in Fulton, MO.
Eva began her professional life as a bridal consultant at Stewart's Dry Goods in Louisville before moving to Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, FL. On May 31, 1958, she married the love of her life, Edwin H. Bickel, Jr., at Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood, KY.
A vibrant member of the community, Eva was an active member of Douglas Boulevard Christian Church and a former member of The Younger Woman's Club. Known as the "hostess with the mostest," she had a passion for entertaining, decorating, and style. She was an avid bridge player and a talented deep-sea fisher, famously winning a rod and reel for catching a 39-pound King Mackerel. Eva also enjoyed cooking, homemaking, and attending the Kentucky Derby with her husband and lifelong friends. Together, she and Edwin traveled the world with Tauck Tours and on various cruises.
Eva is survived by her daughter, Ava Bickel; her son, Edwin H. Bickel III; her granddaughter, Morgan (Daniel) Niemann; and her great-granddaughter, Sutton Grace Niemann.
A graveside service at the family plot in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, KY, will be held at a later date.
