Eva Grace Kist, 96, of Elkton, Maryland, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Laurelwood Healthcare Center, Elkton.
Mrs. Kist was born in Laurel, North Carolina, on June 5, 1929 to the late Vergie Roark Rash and Amos P. Rash. After graduating Riverview High School, NC, she moved to Elkton and married Rudolph Kist, Jr. Grace was a loving mother to her three sons, Rudy, Leonard, and Daniel, and was excited as her family grew to include daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and the many people whose lives she touched with her gentleness and kindness.
A member of Five Rivers Church in Elkton, she served there faithfully throughout her life. Many will remember her as being their Sunday School teacher, Nursery Church provider, or Cornerstone Daycare Academy Caregiver. She was also active in the Women's Ministries at the church. Grace loved people and blessed many with her generosity.
She enjoyed her family and friends immensely and was happiest when time was spent with them. She also enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, gardening, canning, cooking, and more recently passing the day watching the birds out her front window.
Mrs. Kist is survived by three children: Rudolph Kist III (Kathy) of Tennessee, Leonard A. Kist (Sarah) of Delaware, and Daniel E. Kist (Clarissa) of Maryland; seven grandchildren: Brittany K McGehee (Malcolm) of Tennessee, Cameron L. Sedgwick (Brad) of Tennessee, Jonathan R. Kist (Jessica) of Tennessee, L. Stephen Kist of Delaware, Jessica Peel (Patrick) of Delaware, and Vanessa Kist (Cory) of Delaware; eleven great-grandchildren: Evie, Chauncey, Quinn, Crawford, Callum, Wyatt, Jack, Addie, Maddox, Emilia, and McKenzie. She is also survived by two sisters, Mattie Patrick of North Carolina, Nancy Potter of Tennessee, and a sister-in-law, Carol Rash, of Elkton with whom she recently celebrated her 96th birthday.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Cherie D. Kist and siblings, Rose Kist and Dwight Rash.
Services will be held 11 am, Monday, November 17, at Five Rivers Church, 290 Whitehall Road, Elkton, Maryland 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Internment with follow the service at Elkton Cemetery, Howard Street, Elkton.
