Evan Haimovici, 84, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Antioch, California. Born on November 11, 1941, in Manhattan, New York, Evan lived a full and dynamic life marked by dedication to his work, passion for his hobbies, and deep connections with family.
Throughout his professional life, Evan demonstrated remarkable versatility and skill. He built a successful career as a general construction contractor, applying his hands-on expertise to projects that left a lasting impact. His talents extended into electronics repair—a field that showcased his technical acumen—and later into real estate, where he brought the same diligence and integrity that defined all his endeavors.
Evan's personal life was equally rich. He was first married to Florence for 37 years, who preceded him in death. He found love again and married Penny, who survives him. Together they shared 14 years filled with traveling, family gatherings, and shared interests.
He was a father to Kevin, Marion, and Randy; a father-in-law to Ute and Susan; and a stepfather to Steven, Kevin, Mark, and Marjorie. Evan took great pride in his growing family and delighted in the lives of his eight grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. His legacy continues through three great-grandchildren who carry forward the spirit of their great-grandfather.
Evan's interests reflected his adventurous spirit and keen intellect. A licensed private pilot, he found joy in the freedom of flight. He had a lifelong fascination with antique cars—appreciating both their craftsmanship and history—and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Whether at the poker table or trying his luck at slot machines, Evan relished games of chance and strategy. In more recent years, he explored laser engraving as a creative outlet that combined precision with artistry.
Evan was a life-long, dedicated New York Giants fan. He wore New York Giants gear almost every day.
He was predeceased by his brother Sammy and will be remembered fondly by those who knew him for his resourcefulness, curiosity, and enduring love for family.
A private memorial service will be held in Antioch, California.
