Evelyn Dalton, 79, of Hobart, Indiana, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 31, 2026.
Born on January 15, 1947, in Roseland, Louisiana, Evelyn lived a life devoted to Christ, faithfully serving her family and her church with love, strength, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerod Dalton; her son, Carlos Dalton; her parents, Thelma (Frank) Taylor and Robert Phillips; two very special uncles, Wayman (Bernice) Dunomes and Charles Dunomes; her brothers, Oliver Phillips and Wayman (Ingrid) Phillips; and her sister, Cathy Buckley.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her loving memory her three children, Patrick Dalton, Eric Dalton, and Erica Dalton; her sisters, Bevelyn Phillips-McKnight and Hilda (Kenneth) Walker; her brother, Daryel (Renee) Taylor; her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Evelyn was a proud Charter Member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. Her dedication to the church was evident through her roles as a Sunday School teacher, Usher, and her involvement in various outreach ministries. She had a heart for serving others and a passion for sharing the love of Christ.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Evelyn made it her mission to introduce Christ to everyone she encountered, and she was never ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her life was a testimony of her belief, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Evelyn will be remembered for her loving spirit, her strength, her wisdom, and her unwavering faith. Though she is no longer with us in body, her love and light will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
