**Evelyn Carol "Evie" Kurtz, 84**
*February 10, 1941 - November 25, 2025*
Evelyn Carol "Evie" Kurtz passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 84. Born on February 10, 1941 to Lula Mae and Charles Kurtz also in Cincinnati, Evie remained deeply rooted in the city that shaped her life and legacy.
A graduate of Norwood High School, Evie dedicated her early life to creating a warm home before joining the workforce at Husman's Potato Chip factory in Downtown Cincinnati. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident in all she did—whether on the job or at home. But it was beyond her professional life where Evie's vibrant personality truly shone.
Evie was a woman of fierce style and even fiercer spirit. Known for her impeccable hair and fashionable attire, she carried herself with grace and confidence that left a lasting impression. Her standards were famously high—hot food had to be hot, cold food had to be cold and her beloved Coca-Cola was always served ice-cold and poured over ice. These weren't just preferences; they were reflections of a woman who lived life with intention and passion.
A spirited competitor with a sharp wit and dry sense of humor, Evie found joy in the thrill of poker games and billiards matches. She was never one to back down from a challenge nor was she close-fisted in her gaming knowledge. Her love of the game wasn't just reserved for her own play; she was a patient and eager teacher. Many family and friends owe their poker face—and their understanding of the odds—to her spirited lessons around the kitchen table. She brought the same wholehearted commitment to every hand she played as she did to every relationship she nurtured. Her love for classic Westerns and country music echoed her appreciation for timeless traditions, while her deep knowledge of classic Hollywood actors revealed a keen eye for history and storytelling.
Evie's greatest legacy lies in the unwavering support and unconditional love she gave to those around her. She was the bedrock foundation for her family and friends—a devoted woman whose presence offered comfort, strength, and stability. Her home was a safe harbor where laughter echoed through witty banter and warmth radiated from her loving heart.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Amber Caudell, (biological granddaughter whom she adopted) husband Nic Caudell; nephew Mike Dressell wife Jill Dressell; grandniece and nephew Nick and Grace Dressell; grandchildren Justin Bryant and Aja Bryant; great-grandchildren Araesiah Thompson, Avalynn Thompson, Charlie Caudell, Keith Stinson Jr., Kennedi-Rae Bryant; and great-great-grandchildren Araeniyah Thompson, Leilani Thompson, Akylah Phillips, Aaliyah Thompson. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Joe, John "Jay", Mary Alice and Robert Kurtz, Helen Dressell, and Elsie Culbertson and by her great-granddaughter Alexandrea "Sissy" Thompson.
Evie's memory will live on through the generations she helped shape—each carrying forward pieces of her strength, humor, style, and steadfast love. She was a true original: sharp-tongued yet tender-hearted; stylish yet grounded; competitive yet compassionate.
May Evelyn Carol "Evie" Kurtz be remembered always as a woman who never settled for lukewarm—in life or in love—and may her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends in 2026 with details to follow.
