Evelyn Muriel Lackman Romansky

1919 - 2026

July 12, 1919 - January 18, 2026

Evelyn Muriel Lackman Romansky passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at the age of 106, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born July 12, 1919 to John and Marcia Lackman, Evelyn grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, alongside her brother, Clifford, her cherished childhood dog, Peggy, and a large extended family. In 1943, she married the love of her life, Monroe "Monnie" Romansky, and together they shared almost 64 years of marriage.

After settling in Washington, D.C., Evelyn devoted herself to raising their family of four boys and building an active social life. She was a talented artist, whose art forms include oil paintings, watercolors, and collages.

Of all Evelyn's artistic creations, her family was her greatest masterpiece. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who expressed her love through conversation, care, and humor. She was known for her style, grace, cooking and bridge game. She always ensured her family felt nurtured and connected. Time spent together—especially at family gatherings—brought her the greatest joy.

She is survived by her four sons, Stephen Romansky (Julie), Gerald Romansky, Michael Romansky, and Richard Romansky, as well as her former daughter-in-law, Jane Kerschner (Chaz). She was the proud grandmother of Jill McCulloch (Matt), Alexander Romansky, Shaun Romansky, Kathryn Poulin (Steve), Benjamin Romansky (Emma), Kira Margaritondo (Jeremy), Jacob Romansky (Victoria), Nathan Romansky, Olivia Romansky, Matthew Romansky (Emily), Claire Romansky, and Joey Romansky; great-grandmother of Samantha and Logan McCulloch, Silas and Asher Poulin, Hannah and Sophia Margaritondo, and Zev Romansky; and devoted caregiver, personal assistant, and dear friend, Jaye Provencal.

Evelyn's long life was marked by deep family bonds and enduring love. She will be remembered always as the matriarch and heart of a large and devoted family.
