Fay Ann Wooley, born November 11, 1940, in Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on April 9, 2026, in North Carolina.
Fay was the daughter of the late Floyd and Ruth Burlingame Esser Sr. She grew up in Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Arthur Wooley, whose companionship and love were central to her life. Their marriage was built on devotion, shared memories, and a lasting partnership that stood as an example to their family. Fay was also predeceased by her brother, Floyd Esser Jr. of Missouri. Though she experienced the sorrow of loss, she remained a source of strength and love for her family throughout her life.
Fay is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Marie and John Eagan of North Carolina, Melissa Olson of North Carolina, Marilyn and Russell MacLaren of Connecticut, and Marla and John Morton of North Carolina. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great pride and joy. Among her grandchildren is Jessica Markland and Monty, whose lives, like those of the rest of the family, were enriched by her love and encouragement. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Nieman and Margaret Sisk of Missouri.
Family was at the center of Fay's life, and she cherished every opportunity to gather with those she loved. She found happiness in the simple and meaningful moments of life, whether spent in conversation, sharing a meal, or enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home and her heart were always open to her family.
Fay will be remembered for the love she gave, the example she set, and the quiet influence she had on the lives of others. Her legacy lives on in the generations she helped shape, in the lessons she passed down, and in the memories held close by her family and friends. Though she is no longer present in body, the kindness, strength, and devotion she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A life so well lived leaves behind more than memories. It leaves behind a family bound together by love, a heritage of strength and faithfulness, and a lasting reminder of the importance of cherishing one another. Fay Ann Wooley will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
