Fern Marie Carpenter, 86 of Portageville, NY Passed Away on April 15th, 2026 At Wyoming County Community Health System in Warsaw, NY. Fern was born on May 9th, 1939 in Sidney, NY To Peter and Lena Brogan. Fern was predeceased by her Parents, her Loving Husband of 49 Years Egbert Carpenter and her eldest son Randy Carpenter. Fern is survived by her sister Eugena Bucella of Rochester, NY, Sister in Law Lulona Pierce of Nunda, NY, 4 Sons Dan (Chris Wilkinson) Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Todd Carpenter, Pete (Cheryl) Carpenter and Daughter in Law Bonnie Carpente all from the Nunda, Portageville and Pike, NY Area. Fern is also survived by her 11 Grandchildren Jason (Ariel) Carpenter, Justin (Melissa) Carpenter, Lana Carpenter, Jenny (Tim) Blood, Missy (Travis) Mau, Felisha Laraby, Danny Carpenter, Julie (Mike) Potter, Tyler Carpenter, Tiffani Carpenter and Scott Carpenter. 18 Great Grandchildren, Jade, Luke, Lilianna, Dawson, Isabella, Kalvin, Emma, Kinslee, Logan Brayden, Amiyah, Tess, Brooklyn, Olivia, Oliver, Travis, Sophia and Damien as well as many loving Nieces and Nephews.
Fern Married The Love of Her Life on June 8th, 1957, She and Egbert settled In Portageville, NY where they raised 5 Sons. Fern worked for many years at Robison in Castile, NY and then in later years she worked at East Side Nursing and Rehabilitation Center In Warsaw, NY as a Nurse’s Aide. Fern was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to the people that she loved the most, her family. Fern could often be found in the summer canning her vegetables that she and Egbert would grow in their garden, bowling in the local bowling league or out playing BINGO. But Fern’s true passion was her family, she was known for baking not only delicious but beautiful wedding cakes for family weddings, putting on Easter Egg hunts for her grandchildren and having large family gatherings during the holidays. For those that had the honor to know Fern knew that she didn’t mince her words but that when it was all said and done, she still loved you with everything she had. Fern is now reunited in Heaven with those that she has missed terribly, and she is free from all the pain that she has carried over the years.
A private graveside service was held on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at Portageville Cemetery in Portageville, NY where David Peck Officiated. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date where all who knew Fern are invited to come and share stories and celebrate a life well lived.
