Flora Louise Walker

Flora Louise "Flori" Walker, 90, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully into eternal life on February 23, 2026 at the Dr. Jay Weil Center for Hospice Care in New Port Richey, Florida
Born on July 1, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late James and Helen D'Achille, Flora met the love of her life, Brian Walker, in Detroit. They married in 1956 and spent the early years of their marriage living in Virginia, Florida, and Kansas while Brian served as a naval officer and Flora as a teacher. They eventually settled in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they raised their three children.
A devoted parishioner of St. Pius in Indianapolis, Flora helped found the St. Gerard Guild, which supported mothers and their babies. Through the guild, she became a passionate pro-life speaker. While in Indianapolis, she earned her bachelor's degree in teaching from Marian College.
In 1986, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Flora continued her teaching career. She taught kindergarten for many years and later moved to Fort Myers, continuing as a dedicated full-time substitute teacher well into her 80's. She also volunteered at the Haitian Center in Fort Myers, teaching English to the immigrants. Her Catholic faith was the center of her life; she volunteered for the Magnificat Ministry, doing all of their flower arrangements for their events, she spent countless hours helping with summer Bible school, and remained an active member of the Divine Mercy Cenacle at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Flora was predeceased by her brother James D'Achille, her in-laws Leonard and Marian Walker, and her brother-in-law Jack Walker. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Brian Walker and their three children, Brian and Laurie Walker (Nick and Abby, Morganne) James and Jane Walker (Joe and Charlie, Samantha, Carly, Matthew, and Erin) Mark and Anne Babka (Donovan and Conrad) one great grandson, Elijah Walker and sister-in-law Sharon Walker and brother-in-law Fr. Don Walker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 21st at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church: 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919
