Floyd F. Markling, aged 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 12, 2026. Born on August 30, 1934, Floyd served honorably as a Navy Corpsman, providing comfort and care to those servicemembers who suffered extensive burns from the USS Bennington catapult explosion during the Korean War. Floyd continued his commitment to the military and its veterans through his involvement with the Monticello American Legion.
Post-military, Floyd channeled his leadership skills into the business world, successfully owning and operating three businesses. He was also an inventor, holding several patents in manufacturing that underscored his innovative spirit. Beyond his professional and military service commitments, Floyd was a passionate world traveler, hunter, and fisherman, pursuits that brought him great joy and satisfaction throughout his life. When not traveling or enjoying the outdoors, Floyd enjoyed playing cribbage, card games, and billiards, as well as being an excellent golfer.
Floyd leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Pat, daughters Debra, Denise, & Dawn, sons Timothy, Tracy, & Troy, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Marian Feather and brother Robert Markling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Aydt, brothers Walter and Omer Markling, and son Thomas Markling.
Services for Floyd will be held privately at a later date, with his final resting place to be in Monticello, MN. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please honor Floyd's giving spirit through donations to the loving and caring home where he spent his last days.
