Ford Royer

1948 - 2026

Ford Royer, 77, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Born on July 27, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, Ford lived a life filled with dedication to his family, faith, and passions.

Ford graduated from Hastings High School in Hastings, Nebraska, in 1966. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from Kearney State College (now the University of Nebraska at Kearney) in 1970. During his college years, Ford was an accomplished swimmer and earned numerous medals as part of the swim team. His professional career began as a Medical Technologist at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ford then began working for Miles Laboratories/Bayer where he excelled in marketing and sales. He received several accolades for his exceptional sales and people skills throughout his long career. Ford was deeply committed to his field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ford had a flair for the arts and was active in the Cedar Rapids Community Theater (CRCT). In 1978, he and his castmates delivered unforgettable sold-out performances of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," showcasing his talent and love for acting.

Ford’s creativity extended into woodworking—a hobby he pursued with great enthusiasm. He crafted countless treasures for his children and grandchildren, including forts, sandboxes, stools, chairs, trains, and busy boards. His knack for fixing things and bringing them back to life was a testament to his resourcefulness and care. He also found joy in landscaping and working outdoors.

A lifelong dog lover, Ford had a special affection for English Bulldogs. Rarely seen without a canine companion by his side, his bond with dogs was one of the defining aspects of his life.

Faith played an integral role in Ford’s journey. He was deeply involved in the Episcopal Church from an early age—first serving as an acolyte and later as a verger. As a member of the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church, he traveled twice to England to participate in verging with the Church of England Guild Vergers. In Minnesota, he was active with St. John's Abbey and the Order of the Oblates while remaining a devoted parishioner at The Church of the Epiphany in Plymouth. He had a deep respect and reverence for our military veterans and would occasionally serve communion to veterans and the V.A. Medical Hospital in Minneapolis.

Ford is lovingly remembered by his son Doug Royer (Teresa) of Iowa; daughter Kim Owens (Nate) of Kansas; grandsons AJ Royer (Audra) and Sam Royer of Iowa, Matthias Owens of Kansas; sister Lyn Krabiel; niece Becky Malone (Shane); nephews Chris Kidd (Sarah) and Nick Kidd (Jen), all of Nebraska; as well as numerous cousins across Nebraska and Colorado. He is predeceased by his parents Carl and Margaret Royer.

Those who knew Ford will remember him for his humor, wit, charm, loyalty, compassion, and kindness—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

May Ford’s memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
