Frances M. DeVaughn

Frances M. DeVaughn, 69, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away surrounded by love. She was born in Pensacola, Florida.

Frances was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother to five beloved grandchildren. She married the love of her life, Phillip M. DeVaughn, at the age of 21, and together they built a life rooted in family, commitment, and faith. They got married on May 20, 1978.

Frances began her career in the Title and Escrow industry nearly 45 years ago, where she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic. She retired in 2021 after many years of faithful service.

She and Phillip raised two daughters, Caran and Alicia, who were the center of her world.

Frances was predeceased by her parents, Vera F. Gray and Marion F. Gray.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Phillip M. DeVaughn; her daughter Caran R. Jimenez and son-in-law Michael Jimenez; grandchildren Samuel Jimenez, 14, Grace F. Jimenez, 12, and Charlotte M. Jimenez, 5; her daughter Alicia Wigfield and son-in-law James K. Wigfield; grandchildren Gabriella M. Wigfield, 13, and Madalynn R. Wigfield, 11.

Frances also leaves behind her siblings Caran Bevan, Rusty Gray, Sheryl Welker, and Becky Noel; her sister-in-law Suzanne Durbin; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. 

Frances found joy in riding horses, spending time with her two beloved puppies, Stella and Star, and enjoying weekends at Lake Gaston, a place that brought her peace and happiness. She also leaves behind many dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and warmth.

Frances courageously battled endometrial cancer since 2012, facing her journey with strength and grace.

We are deeply thankful for the life she lived here on earth and the love she shared with all who knew her. Please continue to keep the DeVaughn family in your prayers.
