Francis Scott Stephens, known to many simply as Scott, passed away on March 12, 2026 at the age of 87. Born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Scott grew up in the hills of Eastern Kentucky before finding the love of his life and building a home in Louisville, where he would spend the rest of his days.
Scott devoted his career to Louisville Tin and Stove Company, where he worked in Quality Control until his retirement. He was a man of many passions: an avid stamp and coin collector, a ham radio operator, and a car enthusiast who could always be found talking about what he would do to his next project vehicle. He had a deep interest in nutrition and took joy in sharing what he learned with the people around him. Above all, Scott was a man who sought to grow in his faith, a devoted Believer in Christ Jesus whose love for the Lord was the foundation of everything he did, and former member of Ninth & O Baptist Church.

What those who knew Scott will remember most, though, was his smile. Infectious and genuine, it had a way of making everyone feel like his favorite. And for many, he truly was.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen; his daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Marie Littlejohn and her husband Jason; his daughter Kelly Frances Seebold and her husband Matthew; and his son David Edward (Eddie) Stephens. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Avery Christine Stephens, Austin, Meghan, and Lydia Seebold, and Joshua, Emily, and Lily Littlejohn. He is further survived by his brother-in-law David Alan Clark and his wife Tina, and his sister-in-law Frances Sanders and her husband John, along with several nieces and nephews. He is also fondly remembered by his beloved cousins who were more like siblings: Joe and Steve Tussey, and the late Cheryl Tussey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Edward (Ed) Stephens and Marie (Granny-B) Wiley Stephens.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Ninth & O Baptist Church, 4401 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40218. A memorial service will follow visitation. Graveside interment will be private, for immediate family only.
