Francisco Manuel Alderete (Frankie) passed away January 20, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was accompanied by his devoted wife, Nidia G Alderete (Lupe), at his final hour. He succumbed after a long struggle with renal failure. Frankie was born in El Paso, Texas, July 19, 1944, the son of Francisco Alderete Ramos and Esperanza Rodriguez Alderete. He was a graduate of Austin High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. He later obtained a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
Frankie spent his professional career in Civil Service, where he was primarily involved in national defense projects. He was instrumental in the development of technologies used by the U.S. military in operations involving national security, and was well known to many high ranking military officials in Washington, DC.
An avid reader with a love of history, Frankie also taught himself to play the piano. He loved Mex-Tex music and two of his favorite groups were Freddy Fender and the Texas Tornados. Frankie was a devout Catholic and was an active participant in his church.
Frankie is survived by his wife, Lupe Alderete, his brother, Edward C. Alderete (Eddie) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, his sister Patricia C. Flores (Patsy) of El Paso, Texas, and his daughter, Anna Alderete of El Paso, Texas. He is also survived by two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a plethora of cousins, nieces and nephews.
His ashes will be returned to El Paso, where a memorial Mass and celebration of life will occur at a later date. Details will be announced.
